Ford has created a one-off Focus ST police demonstrator, inspired by the recent hit film, The Sweeney. At first glance you'll notice a couple of not-so-subtle differences between the cop car and the Focus driven by Ray Winstone.
First up, the one used in the film is a five-door hatchback, while this demonstrator is the estate version.
Secondly, the Sweeney version is a Flying Squad undercover vehicle; whereas this one sports full police livery. Designed as a 'compact traffic car', the light bar on the roof is all-LED and the dashboard has been fitted with a mobile data terminal (MDT). The ST also fully meets the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) criteria for fast response vehicles.
No details were provided with regards to performance modifications, but thanks to the ST's already admirable handling and power figures, we're fairly convinced it wouldn't need any.
"With the Ford Focus ST being seen so publicly on cinema screens nationwide, the timing for this 'official' version couldn't be better," says Terry Adams, Ford's Direct Sales Manager for Police, Fire & Ambulance.
In standard guise, the Focus ST is available in five colours and is powered by a 250hp 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine. The 0-62mph benchmark is covered in 6.5 seconds and it will go on to a top speed of 154mph. Unfortunately, blue flashing lights and a siren are not offered as optional extras.
