Dany Bahar, the ex-CEO of Lotus, has put his 2002 Lotus Esprit V8 on the market. The car underwent an extensive restoration programme two years ago to bring the model back up to factory-fresh standards; with a few extras thrown in for good measure.
Both the engine and gearbox have been fully rebuilt, and have covered less than 1,000 miles since. The bodywork has been re-sprayed in pearlescent white, and the alloys have been replaced by the OZ Nova variants found on the Final Edition Esprit. Other items borrowed from the Final Edition include the large rear spoiler, round rear lights and the twin-exit centrally mounted exhausts.
Inside you'll find a bespoke interior trimmed in leather and SuedeTex. Mechanical enhancements include large AP Racing front brake calipers with Brembo items fitted round the back - plus the 'High Boost' engine management system from the Sport 350 model.
Not only has the car been thoroughly rebuilt, it has also shared some of the limelight at Lotus' exhibitions; both at the 2010 Classic Car Show at the NEC, and at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
So, if you fancy what could be one of the best examples of the V8 Esprit on the market, pop down to your nearest Lotus dealer. A price hasn't been announced, but don't expect it to be cheap.
