Renault may have culled the bigger, more luxurious cars from its range in the UK, but in China those are exactly the types of vehicles that sell - and sell well. So much so that Renault, in conjunction with Asian partner Samsung Motors, has unveiled a new flagship saloon designed specifically for the Chinese market.
Based on the Korean Renault-Samsung SM7 the new the Talisman saloon "underlines the importance Renault attaches to the Chinese market and our confidence in growth here," according to Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn. The newcomer is expected to cost the equivalent of just over £30,000 and Renault will target young businessmen "who are looking for a car that meets both professional and personal requirements."
Renault has not released specifications yet but engine options will likely mirror those of the SM7 so expect to see a 190hp 2.5-litre V6 or a 260hp 3.5-litre unit. Renault is unlikely to export the Talisman to Europe.
