2012-05-01: First drive: Lotus Exige S

In the build up to the Frankfurt Motor Show Lotus appeared to have completely lost the plot what with news of rapper Swizz Beatz joining the advisory panel, a strange promo involving a duel between a car and a heavyweight boxer and half a dozen equally 'out there' stories. All of that was forgiven though when the Hethel-based carmaker unveiled the new Exige S, a car described as one of the quickest road cars Lotus has ever built.

The supercharged V6-engined Exige S is scheduled to enter the fray in the first quarter of 2012 but for those who want more information Lotus has created a bespoke section of its website just for you. The section features new images, videos and downloads but more importantly has a new configurator on which you can create your ultimate Exige S. Prospective customers can also register their interest in the car and add their name to the test drive list.

We have had a play around with the configurator and all looks well. We're not picky though and will have the first available car please Lotus...

Click here for more details on the Exige S and to have some fun building your own version of the 346bhp car.
