The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, is marking 125 years of the car by compiling a list of the 125 greatest cars ever. Members of the public are being asked to contribute to the list through Twitter and Facebook.
The aim is to find the cars that have had the greatest impact on history. According to a museum spokesman 'These are not necessarily the prettiest or the fastest but those that have broken new ground and made the motor car what it is today'.
Within the museum collection there is plenty of inspiration. From a replica of Karl Benz's Patent Motorwagen of 1886, generally regarded to be the first car, to former Land Speed Record holders.
