Not content with one orange Mugen version of the CR-Z Honda, has released pictures of the CR-Z Mugen RR design concept. The one-off RR was designed by M-TEC in Japan 'for show purposes only'.
At a glance the two look similar, but study pictures of the new concept and the familiar Mugen CR-Z and you will notice that the RR gets a new rear spoiler and diffuser. These are probably the most obvious clues to the 'many bespoke prototype parts' that go into the new car. Included in the list of new components are carbon fibre bonnet, doors and tailgate as well as a full-length under-body tray.
Beneath the Valencia Orange Pear exterior the RR gets 'race-developed' suspension and four-piston monoblock brake callipers (orange painted of course). The car rides on forged 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior is swathed in leather and Alcantara in orange and black. An information screen is fitted that takes care of navigation and audio. The screen also records engine and chassis behaviour and can 'learn' a circuit to record lap data.
Honda describes the CR-Z Mugen RR as complementing the UK-designed CR-Z Mugen. There are currently no plans to put either model into production.
