Renault has unveiled the Frendzy concept ahead of its full reveal at the Frankfurt motor show in September. The car is said to represent "the world of work" and is the fourth step in Renault's design strategy that is based on the human life cycle.
Designed by Laurens ven den Acker, the Frendzy is styled as a commercial vehicle that can double up as a comfortable car. On the passenger side there is no glazing but a single sliding door that has a built-in 37-inch widescreen television. On the driver's side there are two doors but no centre pillar.
Inside, the Frendzy uses different colours of light to indicate whether it's in work or leisure modes. There are also leather seats and wooden trim, while a fabric roof offers plenty of storage and magnetic fixings offer variable attachment points.
The Frendzy uses the Blackberry PlayBook to plug into the car's dashboard, offering web browsing and to help operate the car's systems. Power for the Frendzy comes from a 60bhp electric motor and battery pack to have a top speed of 81mph.
More details on the Frendzy will be released when the car is fully unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
