While it's undoubtedly a class leader in terms of performance and dynamics, BMW's 5 Series Touring could be accused of looking a little conservative - even in M Sport guise, and, in the likely absence of an M5 derivative, this isn't going to change.
German tuner Hamann may have an answer in the form of its Exclusive Accessory package, which adds more than a little menace to the inoffensive looks of the standard car.
Available across the range, the Hamann package adds a new front spoiler with daytime running LEDs and larger air inlets, more prominent side skirts, a rear diffuser with four exhausts (available with a sports silencer in the 550i), while a new rear spoiler and boot spoiler provide additional 'downthrust'. Hunkered down suspension, which is 35mm lower, adds to the more aggressive stance.
Sparkle comes in the form of two alloy wheel options. The Anodised Edition Race Design, with a matt black finish central boss and high-gloss rim, come with 255/30 ZR21 tyres at the front and 295/25 ZR21 tyres at the rear. The Anniversary Evo option can be had in either silver or matt black finish and 20- or 21-inch diameter.
Inside, Hamann offers a 10-piece carbon kit in matt titanium grey (or, at additional cost, any other colour), a sports steering wheel, aluminium pedals and velour floor mats with the Hamann logo. Customers can opt for Hamann embellished headrests too.
