A financial lifeline for Saab has been taken away with the decision of Chinese firm Hawtai to end talks about funding and a strategic partnership. The deal would have seen Saab secure sufficient funding to safeguard its short and medium term future.
Spyker Cars is still involved in finding money to help Saab continue building cars and says a future deal with Hawtai or another Chinese car firm is possible.
The deal with Hawtai came to an end when it became clear that not all stakeholders in Saab would consent to the Hawtai deal. Spyker says talks will begin with Hawtai about a possible cooperation, but on a non-exclusive basis.
