Peugeot has revealed the updated 308, which will go on sale in the UK in May. Of most interest is the modernised styling and a new 'micro-hybrid' powertrain.
The new looks pick up on styling elements from the Peugeot 508 and the SR1 concept car. Key to the 308's new face are LED headlamps with running lights. Under the skin the 308 has lost weight - down by an average of 25kg across the range to the benefit of economy.
Further fuel saving comes with the micro-hybrid e-HDi Stop & Start technology. Fitted to the 1.6-litre HDi 112 engine, it comes with the option of a manual or electronically controlled gearbox and, in five-door form, CO
2 emissions as low as 98g/km.
Three other diesels are offered along with four petrol engines: ranging from the 92bhp 1.6-litre diesel to 200bhp turbocharged petrol. The latter is only offered in the 308 hatchback and CC body styles with the GT trim level. As before the Peugeot 308 is also available as an SW estate and in four trim levels. Prices start at £15,245 on-the-road.
The new Peugeot 308 will be unveiled at the
Geneva Motor Show next month.
