Volkswagen has released versions of the Scirocco and Passat CC with fuel-saving BlueMotion Technology.
Entry-level and GT versions of both models with the 2.0-litre, 138bhp TDI turbodiesel engine now come with stop-start and battery regeneration systems. With the manual gearbox the Scirocco manages 62.8mpg and the Passat CC 60.1mpg on the combined cycle. Carbon dioxide emissions are 118- and 125g/km respectively.
The 168bhp TDI engine has also been revised for improved efficiency. According to the published figures the Passat CC is the more economical at 57.6mpg compared to 55.4mpg for the Scirocco.
Customers can order the new models now: the Scirocco starts at £21,500 and the Passat CC at £23,555.
