The all-new Sharan is now available to order from Volkswagen dealers, with prices starting from £22,980 for the entry-level S 1.4-litre TSI model.
A choice of four trim levels is available: S, SE, SEL and Executive. All feature seven seats as standard, aside from the Executive, which has six individual seats with armrests and leather upholstery.
The price difference between the S, SE and SEL is approximately £3,000 across the board. Ones to watch include the 197bhp 2.0 TSI SEL, which is the sportiest model in the range and the 2.0 TDI six-speed DSG Executive, which offers the most comfort. However, the best value for money has to come from the manual 2.0 TDI S version; at just £24,320 it should be the range's best seller.
The new Sharan features a comprehensive range of standard equipment including anti-lock brakes with Hydraulic Brake Assist and an Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP). A curtain airbag system for all three rows of seats, side airbags for the first two rows and driver and passenger airbags, as well as an additional airbag to protect the driver's knees, should make the Sharan a very safe option indeed. Also included is an eight-speaker DAB digital radio with two-zone electronic climate control and iPod connection.
Orders can be made now, with deliveries expected in November.
