Volkswagen's Eos is the latest model to receive Golf-style cosmetic surgery. This should help justify the rather sizeable cost when compared with its peers. As a rival to cars like the Saab 9-3 Convertible, the Eos holds its own, but it's considerably more expensive than mainstream contenders like the Peugeot 307CC and Astra TwinTop. Although the Peugeot and Astra are cheaper, the VW has a feeling of quality that justifies the inflated price tag.
The improvements made are primarily cosmetic, with a new front-end complete with assertive looking headlights and chrome grille. The rear has become much more Golf inspired and well defined. Changes to the interior are less obvious. The feeling of quality is supposedly enhanced and new leather features are offered, while there is also a new steering wheel and instrument panel.
We'll know more following the car's debut at the
LA Auto Show on November 17.
