Caterham Cars is paying tribute to the motorsport heritage of Monte Carlo with its latest special edition, the Roadsport 125 Monaco. The price of the new model is £20,995.
It is pitched as 'harking back to the golden era of motorsport' with brushed aluminium bodywork and Minilite-style alloy wheels, while the nose cone and mudguards are finished in black. The red and white colours of the Monégasque flag are used on stripes that run the length of the body. The interior features black leather with red highlights. Along with complementing the exterior colour scheme it is apparently designed to evoke the roulette wheels found in Casino Square.
Power comes from a 1.6-litre Ford engine, which, thanks to the Caterham's low weight, gives a power-to-weight ratio of 227bhp/tonne. The performance claims include a 0-60mph time of less than six seconds and a top speed of 112mph.
The first 20 cars ordered will be sold for £19,995, after which the price rises to £20,995. Options include the SV chassis that provides more room in the cockpit. And if you want to justify the car as a sensible purchase, Caterham claims that its entry-level models suffer very little depreciation.
