Only the best car dealers in the world have been chosen by McLaren to sell its new MP4-12C supercar. There will be two dealers in the UK, one each for London and Manchester, and a further 10 across Europe.
The USA has the highest number of dealers to begin with, boasting eight of the first 35 dealers appointed to sell the £150,000 supercar. There are also dealers for South Africa, the Arab Emirate states, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia among others.
As well as revealing details of its dealer network, McLaren has also said there are already 2,500 serious potential buyers registered. McLaren intends to build 1,000 MP4-12Cs per year, with 500 destined for Europe and 200 of these set for UK buyers.
The company says that as soon as its first wave of dealers is fully up and running, those potential customers will be contacted to turn their interest into firm orders. Final production versions of the MP4-12C go on sale in 2011 and McLaren has stated that it would like to sell 4,000 premium sports cars per year with the help of other models in the line-up.
