Renault has plugged the gap between the standard Mégane and the hot Renaultsport model with warmed up GT and GT Line versions. Due on sale in June, both variants are available with all body styles including the Sport Tourer and new Coupé-Cabriolet.
The GT features a choice of 178bhp petrol or 158bhp diesel engines, sports suspension (except the Coupé-Cabriolet, which retains the standard set-up), GT badges and 18-inch alloy wheels.
GT Line is an option pack for the Mégane Dynamique. It comes with the same range of engines, including the 105bhp diesel and 138bhp petrol with CVT gearbox. Expect the same suspension set-up as the GT and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Both versions get a visual makeover with styling cues from the Renaultsport Mégane. Interior changes include aluminium pedals, an analogue rev counter, sports seats for non-convertible models and - for the GT only - a leather sports steering wheel.
The GT Line pack adds £1,290 to the cost of a Mégane while the cheapest, five-door GT model costs £21,910.
