Shortly 75 very fortunate, probably very moneyed, nostalgia seekers will be able to own a brand new Cossie. This time it'll have a Subaru badge, but be in no doubt that a proper Cosworth it will be.
Subaru has released details of the Cosworth Impreza STI CS400, so called because it develops 400PS (395bhp) at 5,750rpm. That makes it good for a supercar baiting 3.7-second sprint to 62mph. Or faster than an
Audi R8 V10.
Sadly there are as yet no pictures of the beast in full, but we're told it'll be obviously different to the
common STI inside and out. The suspension and exhaust are upgraded from the standard items, though we don't know how Cosworth has extracted that much power from what we assume is Subaru's 2.5-litre boxer engine.
Stopping power is, needless to say, highly important here, so there's a bespoke brake package developed by AP Racing. They're the dudes from Coventry that make the Veyron's stoppers, as well as those of a raft of F1 and WRC teams. Expensive? You bet.
Full spec and pricing information will come near the June on-sale date. If, like us, you're desperate for one, you best get onto your Subaru dealer now.
