The Peugeot 308 CC will be the first model to get the company's new 1.6-litre diesel engine; known as the 308 CC HDi 112 it offers more power, torque and lower emissions.
The engine is a new 110bhp unit, designed to meet the latest Euro 5 emissions standards. As well as cleaner exhaust gasses Peugeot claims that drivability and refinement have been improved. There is an overboost function that increases peak torque from 199lb.ft to 210lb.ft and between 1,500- and 3,500rpm torque does not drop below 165lb.ft.
Technical details include two valves per cylinder, higher pressure for the common rail injection system and piezo-electric rather than solenoid injectors. Over 50% of the parts have been redesigned compared with the old 1.6 HDi unit and lessons learned with the 3.0-litre V6 HDi and 2.0-litre HDi have apparently been applied to the smaller engine.
Claimed performance figures for the 308 CC with the new engine include 0-62mph in 12.2 seconds and a top speed of 119mph. Combined cycle fuel economy is 53.3mpg with CO2 emissions of 138g/km.
The Peugeot 308 CC HDi 112 is available in Sport or SE specification priced at £21,095 or £21,995 respectively.
