Leicestershire Ford RS specialist Graham Goode Racing (GGR) has developed a tuning package for the Mk2 Focus RS. The RS370FR upgrade increases power and torque.
The tuning package achieves a 22% power boost without any internal modifications to the powerplant. Changes have been made to get more cold air into the engine, including a carbon fibre cold air induction system (CAIS), larger capacity intercooler, large volume fuel injectors, improved exhaust system and remapped Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
According to the power and torque curves released by GGR peak power is developed at a slightly lower speed, 6,368- instead of 6,500rpm. Whatever the engine speed there is always more power available in the tuned engine although the significant gains show above 4,500rpm where the standard car's power curve begins to level off. Peak power is 368bhp. Torque also receives a boost to 339lb.ft (from 324lb.ft in the
standard RS). Apparently there is the potential for even more power and torque but the company's technical manager claims that traction becomes a problem with further increases in engine output.
The GGR RS370FR package is backed up by a 12-month / 30,000-mile breakdown warranty. It is available fully fitted for £3,750 plus VAT from GGR's Leicestershire premises.
