Reva unveiled its latest products at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Along with the NXR hatchback there is a new two-seat, targa-topped coupé that will go into production in two years' time.

The NXR - for NeXt Reva - is a tiny, four-seat hatchback. Like all Reva products it is electrically powered with a claimed 100-mile range. A full charge takes eight hours but a 90-minute fast charge means it should be possible to cover 200 miles in a day - although that may be reduced if you frequently use the 65mph top speed.

More performance and range is available in the NXG (NeXt Generation). Up to 250 miles in a day is claimed to be possible with half of that mileage done on a single charge. Top speed is quoted to be 80mph. The NXG is a two-seat coupé that looks a little like a miniature Civic Type-R. The body includes a removable roof panel for open-air motoring.

Both new models benefit from Reva's next generation telematics. Functions include a 'monthly eco-drive check email', service alerts and remote diagnostics. To help reduce 'range anxiety' there is the REVive remote emergency charge - if you run the batteries flat a reserve charge can be remotely activated by calling the customer support centre. This should give a few extra miles in emergencies without jeopardising battery life.

The cost of providing this on-going support would be met by a monthly mobility fee, also covering the cost of batteries if customers choose not to purchase these outright. Without batteries Reva expects the NXR to cost about £13,500 while the NXG is closer to £20,700.

Both these electric vehicles can be seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show until 27th September. The NXR is scheduled to go into production early next year while the NXG will be the company's 2011 model.
