Spyker unveiled the C8 Aileron at the
Geneva Motor Show in March. In a carbon fibre nutshell, this is the convertible version. It's just been unveiled at Pebble Beach's Concours d'Elegance and due to take the stands in
Frankfurt too.
Spyker is run by a clever bunch, so they'd always planned a convertible version of the coupé, so as such the transformation from hard-top to soft has been an easy one - both in engineering terms and on the eye. It's got an electric folding fabric roof that stows away behind the driver (where else?), but it's otherwise as per the coupé, which means power is from a 400bhp Audi 4.2-litre V8 with 354lb.ft of twist. A six-speed manual is standard, but there'll be a ZF slush box on the options list too.
Expect to pay around £160k if you want one when they start hitting showrooms towards the back end of next year. Well, we say showrooms, we mean 'specialist performance vehicle epicentres of splendid luxuriousness.' You know, the type of dealerships where you don't have to put your own 20p into the coffee machine to get a rancid cup of Maxwell House. Maybe one day...
