Honda has added a sporty five-door model to the Civic line-up. The Si shares styling cues with the
Civic Type R and a higher level of standard equipment than the SE.
The new trim level is available with the Civic's complete range of engines and transmissions. That means 1.4- and 1.8-litre petrol engines or the 2.2-litre i-CDTi diesel motor. Both petrol units are offered with automatic transmissions - i-SHIFT automated manual for the 1.4 and a conventional automatic for the 1.8. The larger-engined models come with 17-inch, graphite alloy wheels while the 1.4 rides on 16-inch rims. Other distinguishing features for the Si include a Type R style front grille, dark chrome door handles and fuel filler and part leather upholstery.
The Si is priced at £850 over the SE model, which means the manual 1.4 costs £15,800 while the 2.2 i-CTDi is £18,305. The 1.4 will be the first on sale later this year with the 1.8 and 2.2 to follow.
