September will see the launch of the MINI One D, where 'One' represents bottom rung MINI ownership and 'D' represents 72.4mpg and 104g/km. Collectively, 'One D' represents 'no brainer' then.
The 1.6-litre, 89bhp oil-burner is powered by the same unit found in the
Cooper D, generating 177lb.ft of torque at 1,750rpm and emitting 104g/km of CO
2. The One D is fitted with a diesel particulate filter and stop/start engine technology to keep harmful emissions and fuel consumption at bay, and there's a shift point display to make sure drivers are doing their bit for the environment too.
It's no surprise to learn that the One D's look and specification is as per the petrol-powered One, with a body-coloured roof as standard, black mirror caps and little by way of standard equipment. There's no word on UK pricing just yet, but based on the rest of the range we reckon £13,500 or thereabouts sounds right.
