Audi will be showing off this beast at the 28th annual Worthersee Tour: a 402bhp Q5 SUV powered by a supercharged 3.0-litre TFSI engine and rolling on red-tinged 21-inch rims.
The one-off special is 90mm wider and 60mm lower than the
standard Q5 and is brushed with a special matt grey paintjob. It's supposed to showcase a range of Audi custom accessories, though because it's got
those wheels and that power output - enough to send it to 62mph in 4.4 seconds - we're not sure who'll notice a new set of roof rails. Nonetheless, it does have some natty stuff, like an acoustically engineered exhaust system and a strut brace that's full of water to help cool the engine bay.
It's also the poster boy for a new Audi initiative called 'Audi Customising Club', in which the maker is asking Audi fans at Worthersee to submit creative ideas for spoilers, side sills, headlights, steering wheels...anything, basically, as long as it'll fit an A3. Participants will be chosen by Audi designers at the event and will be asked to submit designs over the Internet, before three winning ideas are chosen and put onto a show car for display at some point next year.
So, get involved and that Damien Hurst-inspired half-goldfish in formaldehyde bicycle rack idea you've had brewing for years could finally be realised.
