With all the talk of the
Detroit show about fuel economy Fisker has been quietly waiting to unveil its new model, the Karma S Sunset. A folding hardtop version of the stunning four-door Karma, the new Karma S Sunset concept shares its aluminium construction and Q-Drive plug-in hybrid powertrain with its relative. Officially a concept, Fisker is keeping quiet as to the performance from its Detroit show-stopper, but the four-door model can sprint to 62mph in just sic seconds and onto a top speed of either 95mph or 125mph depending on which means of drive you have selected.
Utilising a lithium-ion battery pack, the Karma S Sunset should match the closed car's 50-mile electric-only range, that increasing to 300-miles when the electric motor is combined with the 265bhp, 2.0-litre internal combustion engine. Fisker announced that the four-door Karma will retail in the US for $87,900, any eventual production version of the drop-top Karma S certain to add a decent premium to that. Saving the planet has never looked more fun though; the combination of the Fisker's sensational looks and promise of excellent performance is certain to appeal to beautiful, moneyed buyers wanting their environmentalism packaged in something more exciting than a
Toyota Prius.
