Following on from the launch of the
sixth generation Golf, VW has given the Plus version a facelift and range update. It debuted today at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy.
The adoption of the new family face is the key differentiator from the previous model, though other styling tweaks and new colour and wheel options also serve to update the Golf Plus's looks.
Inside, the enhancements are even more obvious, with new materials and features shared with the Golf hatchback and the
Passat CC, including white backlit instruments and new steering wheel controls.
VW will offer a range of its latest petrol and diesel engines in the Golf Plus, including a 1.4-litre TSI unit predicted to return 44.8mpg and 146g/km of CO
2. A common-rail 2.0 TDI engine should be available in several power outputs from 89- 138bhp, with the latter returning 55.4mpg and emitting 135g/km.
Specifications, engine options and prices will be confirmed closer to the new Golf Plus's launch in Spring 2009.
