What?
Citroen describes the Hypnos as a "true hybrid" that not only unites a diesel engine and electric motor, but also combines elements of luxury saloon, coupé and sport utility vehicle. The cabin features upmarket materials such as brushed aluminium and leather, though in bright colours rather than the sober tones of typical executive cars. A camera monitors the driver's expression and adjusts the interior lighting and fragrance to provide a calm atmosphere. Four seats are provided in a staggered pattern to give each occupant a sense of personal space.
When?
Probably never, at least not in exactly this form. It is possible that Citroen is considering a large sport-utility vehicle as a flagship for the range though elements of the Hypnos are likely to make it into future Citroens.
Verdict?
Concept cars should have elements of the weird and wonderful and Citroen has dished up plenty that is unusual. Strip away some of the more outlandish features, however, and you could imagine something similar to the Hypnos on sale in the not too distant future.
