Spyker Cars will be at the
British International Motor Show with two models - the C8 Aileron and the C12 Zagato concept car - making their UK debut. Also present will be the Spyker C8 Spyder and C8 Laviolette.
First seen at this year's Geneva Motor Show the C8 Aileron is Spyker's second generation mid-engined sports car; it has an aluminium space frame chassis and aluminium bodywork. To provide extra cockpit space and to make room for the optional six-speed automatic transmission the wheelbase is longer than other Spyker models. Other chassis developments include increasing the front track and torsional rigidity without adding weight. The Aileron has the plush interior expected of Spyker and features a Kharma sound system with integrated Bluetooth, GPS, iPod connectivity and CD player. The C8 Aileron will go into production at the end of 2008.
Like the C8 Aileron the C12 Zagato was first seen at the
Geneva Show in March. Taking its design cues from Formula 1 and aviation the C12 also manages to retain the Spyker family look. With a 6.0-litre W12 engine delivering 500bhp Spyker claims the C12 should do 195mph and 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds.
Although not as fast as the Zagato the C8 Spyder (convertible) and Laviolette (coupé) are clamed to do 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds and have a maximum speed of 187mph. Inside, the C8 models can be specified with a turned aluminium fascia, quilted leather and Chronoswiss instruments.
The C8 Aileron, C12 Zagato and C8 Laviolette will be located in The Ultimate Collection public gallery and Spyker will also be represented in The Heritage Enclosure. The British International Motor Show opens on Wednesday 23rd July and runs to Sunday 3rd August.
