| Model update | 2009 Bentley Continental Flying Spur |
If you want your luxury on the fast side, Bentley has just the thing in the shape of the Continental Flying Spur Speed that has a top speed of 200mph. This 2.5-tonne slice of the good life will also cover 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds.
Unsurprisingly, the Flying Spur Speed uses the same 600bhp 6.0-litre W12 engine as the
Continental GT Speed, along with that car's six-speed automatic gearbox. A new 'Dynamic' mode has been added to the ESP system of the Speed so keener drivers can push on without the traction control coming into play as early.
Other changes for the Speed include 20-inch alloy wheels as standard and a ride height dropped by 10mm. The suspension has also been mildly firmed up with stiffer anti-roll bars front and rear, while the steering has been retuned to give quicker response.
The standard Flying Spur saloon also enjoys the quicker steering, as well as the exterior refresh that includes a more upright front grille, larger air intake in the front bumper and a reshaped rear bumper. Speed customers are also treated to rifled exhaust tailpipes, just like on the Conti GT Speed.
Unique interior details for the Speed are covered by three-spoke steering wheel, drilled aluminium pedals and diamond quilted leather seats and door panels. All revised Spurs have increased sound deadening in the wheelarches and underneath the body to make the cabin even quieter.
The revised Spur and new Speed models are available to order now and the Speed carries a £17,000 premium over the standard Flying Spur saloon.
