| Extreme new model | Audi tt Clubsport quattro |
Audi took the world by surprise when it unveiled its plans to put the TT Clubsport quattro into production. The German firm took the opportunity to reveal the car and its plans at the Lake Worther Tour in Austria, which is a huge gathering of VW and Audi fans.
A 300bhp version of Audi's turbocharged 2.0-litre TFSI engine will be used in the Clubsport and drive all four wheels through a quattro four-wheel drive system. A new seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox will be used and Audi promises it will boast super-fast changes in manual mode.
The cut-down windscreen is not as radical as featured on the
clubsport concept unveiled by Audi at the Essen motor show in 2007. However, the new Clubsport is 60mm wider than a
standard TT to cover its widened front and rear tracks that push the wheels further out for greater handling balance.
Sitting on 19-inch alloy wheels, the Clubsport will also have an upgraded braking system to cope with its extra performance. Inside, it has race car-style seats, aluminium pedals and leather upholstery. Audi will confirm details of the Clubsport quattro's specification and prices closer to it going on sale in chosen markets.
