| New derivative on sale | UK market | Citroen C5 Tourer |
The Citroen C5 Tourer is taking a different tack to its predecessor and is aiming for the premium end of the family estate market, at the expense of load carrying ability.
There's 505-litres of cargo capacity with the rear seats in place and 1,500-litres when the back seats are folded down. This compares well with most rivals but is not class-leading.
Citroen hopes to tempt buyers with other features when the C5 Tourer goes on sale in June. The rear load sill can be dropped closer to the ground at the touch of a button that lowers the rear suspension when the car is parked. A powered tailgate will also be an option. As with
the saloon, some models will be offered with the choice of standard steel spring suspension or Citroen's Hydractive hydropneumatic system
The Tourer is 5cm longer and 3cm taller than the saloon. Both share the same engine range, so the Tourer will be available with 1.8- and 2.0-litre petrol engines or the more popular diesel range that consists of 1.6-, 2.0-, 2.2- and V6 2.7-litre turbodiesels.
Three trim levels will be offered, covering SX, VTR+ and Exclusive, and prices will start at £16,695 when the C5 Tourer goes on sale on 17 June.
