The Honda S2000 has earned a love-hate reputation, with some owners addicted to it and others regarding it as too twitchy. Now, Honda has tried to make both camps happy with a revised S2000 for 2008.
Honda's Tom Gardner admits: "The S2000 has always been a raw, exciting car, but some found it too edgy. These latest changes make the S2000 more fun to drive but predictable, giving the driver more confidence."
The changes have concentrated on the suspension of the S2000. There are retuned shock absorbers, uprated springs and thicker anti-roll bars, which should all help the car corner more flatly and ward off the S2000's tendency to oversteer. There's also reworked steering to make it more responsive in answer to criticisms that previous S2000's steering did not have enough feel.
Other new features for 2008 are new five-spoke alloy wheels, a new silver paint colour option, and three new leather interior combos. The seats have also been reshaped to give greater head protection should the car roll over.
The 2.0-litre 237bhp engine remains untouched and drives through a six-speed manual gearbox. Prices for the S2000 start at £28,050 for the Roadster and £28,600 for the GT with detachable hard top.
