The MSA (Motor Sports Association of the United Kingdom) have approved the application for a race championship permit for the all-new for 2004, SCV8 Supercar Championship.
With the BRDC (British Racing Drivers' Club) as its organising club, SCV8 will now be able to set alight UK race tracks at events recently announced in the 2004 race calendar (see below).
SPL (Supercar Promotions Limited), the owners and promoters of the SCV8 Championship are extremely pleased with the long awaited outcome of the association's decision with four times BTCC Champion Andy Rouse and joint SCV8 series creator Pete Hall commenting: "This is the final piece of the jigsaw in creating this long awaited and much needed new and exciting championship for British race fans. SCV8 has the final green light, and we can now concentrate on completing the detailed elements of the championship before the cars blast off the grid for the first race event next summer."
The news comes in the week that SPL announced their full 20 round championship calendar for 2004, and also at a time when the SCV8 Supercar Championship received recognition at the recent prestigious annual AUTOCAR Awards by achieving runner up slot in the Motor Sport category, and that's before wheels are turned in competitive anger! The judges quoted the championship as "The most exciting new UK race series for years."
