| New Engine Option | Volvo C70 2.0-litre Diesel |
To ensure that the C70 remains a real contender in the folding hardtop convertible market sector, Volvo has added its popular diesel to the range. The 134bhp, 2.0-litre unit, which already features in the
C30, S40 and V50 was accountable for 55 percent of sales in 2006. Bridging the void between the likes of
Renault's Mégane CC and the Audi A4 cabriolet, Volvo has given the C70 its best chance yet to steal away customers that might want a smaller engine with the pay off of better fuel economy.
As well as 46.3mpg on the Combined Cycle and 161g/km of CO
2, the 2.0-litre motor provides 236lb.ft of torque, hitting 62mph from standstill in 11 seconds and on to a top speed of 127mph.
In case you're worried about a diesel racket that positively erodes the look you're trying to achieve, Volvo's 2.0-litre diesel uses Bosch's second generation diesel injection system, which, other than providing improved fuel economy and cleaner emissions - according to Volvo - is quieter too.
The C70's new diesel option is available to order now, but will only hit showrooms this autumn, with a price tag of £l26,000 for the 2.0-litre D S.
