Ascari Cars is poised to race six KZ-1Rs in this year's European GT3 series. Starting at Silverstone, the series travels to Bucharest, Monza and Brno, before the finale in Dubai on 4 November 2007.
The company is currently completing the latest three bespoke KZ-1R GT3 cars at its production facility in Banbury, Oxfordshire. The factory has been focusing heavily on the assembly of all KZ1R components - from re-tuning engines to trimming and fitting carbon fibre panels - and will send the finished vehicles to Europe for testing sessions before the start of the FIA GT3 European Championship on May 6th.
In 2006, the Damax Race team saw championship success when it ran three bespoke Ascari KZ-1Rs, competing against more established rivals including Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari. That was the first collaborative development year between Damax and Ascari and the results accounted for podium places and race wins in the European GT3, British GT and European GT Open Championship.
Ascari hopes these hand-built vehicles will continue the momentum set during the successful 2006 GT racing season.
