To celebrate sixty years of making cars, Saab is set to release anniversary editions of the 9-3 and 9-5. Both cars will go on sale next month and be offered in a choice of six metallic colours, including a rather attractive Ice Metallic Blue.
The 9-3 Anniversary will include DVD Satellite Navigation, a Bluetooth phone system and 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels all at no extra cost. That's over £3,000 worth of extras absolutely free. Well worth a look, we think.
The 9-5 makes a similarly attractive proposition with DVD satnav, grey leather interior and 17-inch alloys added to the standard package. The estate model also gets optional matt-chrome roof rails.
Obviously both models are getting on a bit and, as a result, you could probably expect to get between £1,000 and £1,500 off the list price by haggling. But that's a long way from the £3,000 or more you could potential save with the Anniversary Editions.
If you steer clear of the ghastly chrome-faced 9-5, both models make an attractive, well-built, classy alternative to the German counterparts from Audi and BMW and are, these days, considerably less common.
