What's all this about?
Porsche has launched new Style Edition versions of its 718 Cayman coupe and its convertible sibling, the 718 Boxster. Decked out with stripes, lettering and an exclusive optional colour, the new versions add a few items of extra equipment, but the design is the big selling point.
What has Porsche added?
Every Style Edition comes with 20-inch 718 Spyder wheels with coloured Porsche crests, as well as black sport tailpipes and Porsche lettering in high-gloss silver at the back. Decorative stripes on the front luggage compartment lid and Porsche lettering on the doors also mark the Style Edition out, while customers can choose whether to opt for “contrast packages” in black or white at no extra cost.
Inside, the Style Edition comes with black leather with white contrast stitching and illuminated door sill panels, as well as a Porsche crest on the head restraints. The 718 Boxster Style Edition also comes with ‘Boxster’ lettering on the soft top above the side windows.
Anything else?
Yes. As well as inheriting the standard 718 Cayman and Boxster features, the Style Editions also get automatically dimming interior and exterior mirrors, plus a heated steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers and two-zone climate control. Floor mats with white contrast stitching are also included to match the black leather interior.
But arguably the highlight is the new Ruby Star Neo paintwork, which is described as a “modern interpretation” of the 964-generation 911 Carrera RS.
What's powering the Style Edition?
The Style Edition is only available in conjunction with the basic 2.0-litre flat-four engine found in the standard 718 Boxster and Cayman models. That provides 300hp, which is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. However, customers can choose a seven-speed automatic if they prefer.
How much does it cost?
The 718 Cayman Style Edition comes in at £51,600 making it about £4,000 more expensive than the standard car. The Boxster Style Edition, meanwhile, commands a similar premium, giving it a £53,600 starting price.
