Over a month ahead of its world debut at the
2006 British Motor Show Vauxhall has released initial photographs and details of its all-new Corsa.
As you can see, Vauxhall continues its aggressive design trend with the new Corsa, echoing the Astra Sport Hatch, though vaguely similar to the new Renault Clio at the rear. The first pictures depict the three-door version, which is said to have a more coupe-like profile than the more practical five-door, in a similar vein to the Astra range. It is likely that these pictures show a Corsa fitted with the Sports package, which will include 17-inch alloys and a lowered ride height.
At launch, there will be five engine options, including 1.0, 1.2 and 1.4-litre petrol versions. Until a VXR model is unveiled the diesels will be the stars of the range, starting with the 1.3-litre CDTi unit and rising to a new 1.7-litre turbodiesel with about 125bhp.
We'll check out the new Corsa for ourselves at the British Motor Show, when it is expected that prices and specification will be announced ahead of the Corsa's entry into showrooms this autumn.
