What's all this about?

This is the Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate edition, a bespoke model from the creative minds of the people at Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO). We can go deeper into SVO than that though, because this model has been created by SV Bespoke, the team who really get into personalisation for clients across the globe.

It will make its debut at Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace from 1-5 September and Land Rover says it's a special edition rather than a limited edition, although it is very much to order so we don't see the production numbers being that high.

It's available in special Maya Blue Gloss or Marl Grey Gloss, both of which use a cool paint that features white glass flakes within it to make it all sparkly. Alternatively you can have it in Ligurian Black. It has white side detailing on the side vents as well as on the model lettering on the tailgate and the front of the carbon fibre bonnet.

"Range Rover Sport SVR redefined Land Rover high-performance capability when it was introduced in 2014," says Mark Turner, commercial director for Land Rover SV Bespoke. "We've sold more than 20,000 examples to date and demand for the SVR's characterful mix of power, luxury and thrilling dynamics continues to grow every year. The SV Bespoke personalisation features of this Ultimate edition elevate its appeal even further.”

What's it like inside?

Inside it's all luxurious Range Rover, as you would expect, but with a few SV Bespoke touches. These include special SV Bespoke B-pillar badges, Ultimate edition illuminated tread plates and black anodised metal gearshift paddles. While there are lots of trim choices, there is a recommendation that the best would be the Ebony and Cirrus colour choices including lightweight SVR performance seats in leather and suede. It's just a recommendation though, no-one at SV Bespoke is going to judge you if you choose something else, probably.

Is it really the ultimate?

We're not privy to the top-secret plans inside Land Rover, but we'd say probably not. The Range Rover and its Sport sibling are both in run-out phase ahead of new versions coming along in 2022 so it could well be that we will see a number of special editions across both model lines between now and the debut of the new ones. Whether it is the ultimate version or not, given the ability to personalise this version through SV Bespoke, it's certainly easy to make sure it's unique.

How much for all this bespokery?

Land Rover says the Sport SVR Ultimate edition will start at £123,900, but the thing about bespoke is that you can have almost whatever you want and that comes at a figure that is not on the price list.
