New Ferrari day!

Yes, indeed, we do like these days. And while we had half expected to be showing you Ferrari's take on an SUV today, instead it's gone and revealed something far more traditional and, well, Ferrari. It's the Ferrari Roma, a '2+' coupe powered by a version of the Italian company's much-lauded biturbo V8 engine.

What, no hybrid or electric assistance?

It doesn't appear so. The Roma weighs in at just 1,472kg ('with lightweight options') and its performance sits between that of the Ferrari Portofino and the F8 Tributo. Up front, though mounted well back in the chassis, is the twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 that has seemingly won ALL the engine awards of recent times. For the Roma, peak power is 620hp and torque maxes out at 760Nm. That's channelled through Ferrari's new eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission to, we presume, the rear wheels. I say 'presume' as Ferrari is keeping some of the Roma's details secret until tomorrow. It quotes a 0-62mph time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200mph.

Is that a touchscreen?

Well-spotted. Look through the few images we have and you'll see a snazzy new dashboard design for the Roma, bringing Ferrari cabins bang up to date. The instruments are rendered on what appears to be a large high-res display and that's complemented by a portrait-style touchscreen in the middle (well, we assume it's a touchscreen) to control the infotainment, settings and climate system. There's also a neat little screen in front of the passenger so they don't feel left out.

Anything else you can tell us?

Not at this stage. Tune in tomorrow for more...
