What's the news?
Maserati GB has confirmed that new range-topping SUVs will arrive in the UK this autumn. The V8-powered Maserati Levante GTS and Levante Trofeo models both share the same 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged engine, but in different states of tune.
With a starting price of £104,990, the Levante GTS has 530hp on tap and gets more aggressive looking styling. Maserati claims that it epitomises the balance of a performance grand tourer with luxury.
But if you're looking for something with a bit more bite, then the Maserati Levante Trofeo might be more your thing. Although it uses the same basic engine as the GTS, the wick is turned up to boost power output to 580hp at 6,200rpm. The Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) system also includes a new 'Corsa' driving mode that includes launch control and sharper handling characteristics.
What else has it got?
The Levante Trofeo rides on 21-inch forged aluminium wheels and is distinguished by its a smattering of carbon fibre across the front splitter, grille blades, side skirts and the rear valance. The lighter aluminium bonnet features additional vents to help cool the uprated engine. All that extra performance and lightweight materials do come at a price - £124,900 to be precise.
There's more?
If the regular 580hp Levante Trofeo isn't special enough for you, Maserati is producing a limited-production Trofeo Launch Edition. Restricted to just 50 units for Europe, the combines the same levels of performance with the option of three exclusive exterior colours - Blu Emozione matte, Giallo Modenese or Rosso Magma. Blue, yellow and red just doesn't sound as cool in English...
In addition to this, the sports seats are upholstered in a natural 'Pieno Fiore' leather in black with the choice of matching blue, yellow or red contrasting stitching detail. The interior also features new matte carbon fibre weave trim inserts throughout, which again are exclusive to the Trofeo Launch Edition. For those lucky enough to nab one of the 50 cars being made, they'll need to hand over £159,900.
