Aston Martin has confirmed that its second UK production facility, which is the St Athan site in Wales, has begun making pre-production versions of the DBX SUV, ahead of the pioneering (for Aston, at any rate) model's reveal later this year. These are the first vehicles to ever be built by Aston Martin in Wales, with St Athan due to make all Lagonda-branded machines and any electrified cars, like the Rapide E, in the future - creating 750 jobs at the 90-acre former MoD site, while supposedly capable of supporting another 3,000 jobs in the supply chain and local businesses as a result. Andy Palmer, Aston Martin Lagonda's president and group CEO, said: "This is an exciting time for Aston Martin Lagonda. Our second luxury manufacturing facility is now producing cars and is ready to go into full production in H1 2020. Our facilities and manufacturing teams, led by vice-president and chief manufacturing operations officer Keith Stanton, have done an outstanding job in getting the factory ready almost a year before full production starts, on time and on budget."
