What's all this about?
These are the first design sketches released to preview the forthcoming Skoda Kamiq. It will be the third model in Skoda's SUV range, fitting in under the mid-size Karoq. The Kamiq will be a five-seater and is only expected to offer front-wheel drive.
How will it look?
If the design sketches don't quite give you an accurate idea as to what to expect, then cast your mind back to the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, where Skoda showcased the Vision X concept; that will give you a much clearer idea as to how the Kamiq will look.
Skoda's Chief Designer, Oliver Stefani, said: "In our new Kamiq city SUV we've implemented a completely new headlight configuration. The two-part headlamps with daytime running lights above are a first for Skoda. They give the Kamiq a unique appearance and represent another interpretation of our successful SUV design language."
What about engines?
We don't yet know the full range of engines that will be available, but it is almost certain that the Kamiq will use a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, similar to that already used in the Karoq and Octavia. It is possible that a larger 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine may also be offered in some markets.
Any word on pricing?
It's still too soon to say; in fact, pricing may not be confirmed until closer to the car's arrival in showrooms, which is scheduled for the latter part of 2019.
