What's this?
This is the MINI Cooper John Cooper Works, the most powerful car in the MINI line-up, and it's being updated for 2019. The updates are limited to some new equipment - which basically boils down to piano black interior trim and Dinamica leather, John Cooper Works bucket seats and 17-inch black-finish alloy wheels.
Other standard toys include standard-fit front and rear LED lights, automatic headlights with rain sensors, MINI Excitement Pack including ambient interior lighting and exterior MINI Logo projection. Other standard kit includes Sport suspension with 17-inch John Cooper Works alloy wheels, sports braking system and John Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit.
The 231hp hatch will sprint from 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds (6.6 seconds for the Convertible) and CO2 emissions range from 140g/km to 158g/km depending on whether you go for the six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. The Convertible is a little worse off in this regard. Fuel economy ranges from 40mpg to 46mpg, again depending on the gearbox and, again, the Convertible is a little worse off.
In March, the John Cooper Works model will get its biggest mechanical change for 2019, which is the fitment of a new exhaust particulate trap to clean up the engine for the latest emissions regulations.
