What's all this about?

Allow us to fling some faintly ludicrous numbers your way. And they are these: more than 1,000kg of downforce. A power output in excess of 1,115hp. The ability to generate 3g of lateral cornering force. And a top speed of 225mph.

Lordy, which car do these numbers relate to?

The absolutely evil-looking thing in these images, of course. It's the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, the track-only evolution of the already-very-very-very-potent Valkyrie hypercar. With wider bodywork made of carbon fibre, much larger front and rear wing elements, a trimmer exhaust system, polycarbonate for the front screen and side windows and carbon fibre suspension wishbones, the weight of the AMR Pro has been kept down to 1,000kg. Which means the track-only Valkyrie generates more downforce than it weighs. Oh, and of course, with that 1,115hp output from its 6.5-litre, normally aspirated V12 petrol engine, the power-to-weight is more than 1hp per kilogramme and a scandalous 1,115hp-per-tonne-plus outright, once Aston confirms the exact technical details in the coming weeks.

How much will it cost, and how many are going to be made?

We have no idea on the price of the AMR Pro, but it was likely to be a stratospheric figure that boggles the mind almost as much as the Top Trumps-esque stats Aston has trotted out here.

You say 'was'... are they all sold?

Yes. Because only 25 AMR Pro Valkyries will be made and they've already been snapped up by a limited financial elite, who will take delivery from 2020 onwards. The lucky blighters...

Did the Valkyrie AMR Pro go on show in Geneva?

It most certainly did, alongside the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing F1 car and the Vantage GTE World Endurance Championship challenger. That's a formidable array of competition machinery, we're sure you'll agree.

What did the team behind the AMR Pro say?

Red Bull Racing's chief technical officer, Adrian Newey, said: "Seeing the Valkyrie AMR Pro and this year's Aston Martin Red Bull Racing F1 show car together at Geneva is a special moment for me. The Aston Martin Valkyrie road car draws extensively from the knowledge I have gained during my career in Formula One, but the AMR Pro version has allowed me to work beyond the constraints of road legality, or indeed practicality! We've told a few of its secrets, but by no means all. I will leave it to the public to ponder the lap time predictions. Suffice to say, they're quite impressive."

And Andy Palmer, Aston Martin's CEO, added: "Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm a true racer at heart, so to see the track-only Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro together with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing's Formula One and Aston Martin's World Endurance Championship cars here at Geneva is fabulous.
