What's all this about?
Audi has updated the Q3 SUV.
You what? Didn't it already do that in 2014?
It did, but another raft of revisions is apparently required. Basically, it amounts to a load of subtle tweaking for the entire range, with lesser models getting a new design of outer front air intake that is laterally split, with silver underbody protection front and rear and stone grey finishes for the radiator grille and wheel arches. Step up the range and various details are switched to gloss-black, while the air inlets get larger and the grilles benefit from a diamond pattern. There's also a new trim grade above S line, which is S line competition.
Ah, now we're talking. What does this entail?
Umm... high-gloss black detailing.
Really? Is that it?
Yup. Well... sort of. The high-gloss black can be found on the air inlets, the 'Singleframe' grille, the wheel arches, the door trims, the roof rails and the mirror housings, as well as the rear roof spoiler and the lower section of the back bumper. Inside, it has sports seats in black leather/fabric with power lumbar supports and S line logos embossed into the centre section. Sports suspension, Audi's multimode Drive Select software and the Driver Information System (DIS) cluster screen are fitted as standard, as well as 19-inch, 10-spoke Y-design alloy wheels in gloss black courtesy of Audi Sport. Leather and Alcantara, and a fine Nappa leather trim, are options for the cabin.
Is there only one engine choice for the Competition?
Nope. You can have it with any powerplant in the existing Q3 range. One final note about the updated SUV - Camouflage Green metallic replaces Tundra Brown in the palette of exterior colours.
And when can I purchase this augmented Audi?
It will be in showrooms from autumn with first deliveries later this year. Expect prices to be the same as the outgoing model's.
