What's all this about?
Volkswagen has added a new trim level for the Touareg range for customers who want more luxury. The R-Line Plus package is available now, from £48,095, and adds a number of features over the R-Line model.
What do you get?
There are 21-inch 'Mallory' design alloy wheels to distinguish the Touareg R-Line Plus from lesser models. Other standard equipment includes Volkswagen's Area View technology. This uses an array of wide-angle cameras to provide a 360-degree, bird's-eye exterior view of the car that is displayed on the infotainment screen inside. The system gives the driver the ability to spot hazards that might otherwise be hidden, such as pedestrians and cyclists approaching from the side when pulling out of a parking space.
Additional touches of luxury have been applied to the interior including piano black trim and 'Vienna' leather upholstery; the front seats feature 14-way electronic adjustment.
Which engines are available?
Power comes from a 3.0 V6 turbodiesel, which comes in 204- and 262hp variants. Transmission is an eight-speed automatic and fuel economy is identical for both engines at 48.2mpg. Emissions figures are 173- and 174g/km respectively for the low and high-powered engines. The 262hp V6 adds £1,800 to the Touareg's price.
