I can't keep up...
We understand; Mercedes is rolling out a dizzying number of new cars these days, but this one isn't too confusing. It's the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe to give it its full long-winded title and that almost tells you everything, especially as we've already been told all about the regular GLC 43, the non-coupe one.
Remind me.
Under the bonnet of all AMG '43' cars is the company's twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. Here it makes 367hp and a chunky 520Nm of torque. That's channelled through a quicker nine-speed automatic transmission to an AMG-tweaked 4Matic four-wheel drive system with a distinct rear bias by default. Mercedes quotes 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds and a limited top speed of 155mph.
Not bad for a heavy SUV; can it go around corners?
It should do. AMG has taken the Air Body Control air suspension with adaptive damping and modified it to its own liking with Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus settings to choose from. There's also speed-sensitive power steering and a variable ratio rack and, as you'd hope, beefier brakes all round.
Looks good too: what's new?
The usual suite of AMG visual upgrades including the chrome pinned front grille, a splitter, large alloy wheels (19-inch as standard, but options as big as 21-inch), modest rear spoiler and quad exhausts. Inside, there's a flat-bottomed steering wheel, deep sports seats and lots of red stitching.
Tasty, when can we check it out in person?
Get yourself along to the Paris Motor Show in early October, as it makes its world debut there.
