What's all this then?
Want to get a good (a verrrrry good) idea of what the next-generation Volkswagen Touareg SUV is going to be like? You could do worse than have a look at the T-Prime Concept GTE as seen today at the Beijing motor show in China.
The T-Prime really is the new Touareg in all but name and a few details. Underneath the skin it's running a 381hp plugin hybrid GTE powertrain, which can go for a claimed 30 miles on one charge of the batteries.
Inside, it's got a seriously high-tech cockpit, with a massive, curved central screen, gesture control, digital instruments and a glass-screen clickwheel for the eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Anything else at the show?
Appearing alongside the T-Prime in Beijing is the Magotan saloon (which is basically a long-wheelbase version of the Passat), the Phideon (which is a large luxury car, but not the new Phaeton) and the all-electric Budd-e concept, which we already saw at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
