What's all this about?
Two tuning companies have fitted the Honda Civic Type R with some extreme body kits and shown off the results at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
Why? Isn't the CTR already pretty mad to look at?
It is, but that hasn't stopped Mugen and Modulo. First up, Mugen goes for a black theme - you'll find the colour clothing the revised front bumper, the splitter, the wheel arches and the side and rear skirts as well. Oh, and that massive race car-inspired rear spoiler, which is lighter than the standard item it replaces.
And what does Modulo do to the Civic?
Its bodywork mainly features flared side skirts, with some red detailing on the door mirrors and the sides of the rear spoiler. Also, it has replaced the fuel filler cap. Which is nice.
Is there anything else going on with Honda in Tokyo?
Yes, there will be several versions of the S660 roadster to look at, while Honda Racing has a trio of competition vehicles on display - the McLaren-Honda MP4-30, the awesome Super GT GT500 NSX Concept-GT and Honda's entry into the Japanese Super Formula series.
